Terms of Service
Howdydothis · Last updated 25 October 2026
These terms explain the rules for using Howdydothis. They are a draft written for our prototype and have not been reviewed by a lawyer. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. About these terms
By creating an account or using Howdydothis you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
We may change these terms. If we make an important change we will tell you — by email or with a notice on the site — before it takes effect. If you keep using Howdydothis after a change, the new terms apply to you.
2. Who we are
Howdydothis is operated by Howdydothis, based in Ireland. It is an online marketplace that helps people who need a job done find people who offer that service, and lets them contact each other.
You can reach us at support@howdydothis.com
Questions about your personal data — a copy of it, a correction, deletion, or any other GDPR request — should go to privacy@howdydothis.com. Our Privacy Policy explains your rights and how to use them.
3. What Howdydothis is — and is not
Howdydothis connects people. It does not employ, supervise, insure or guarantee anyone. When you agree to a job, the contract for that work is between you and the other person — not with us.
That means we are not responsible for:
- the quality, safety or legality of work carried out;
- whether a job is completed, or completed on time;
- agreements, payments or disputes between members;
- injury, loss or damage arising from work arranged through the site.
We do not currently check members' identity, qualifications, insurance or Garda vetting. Please use your own judgement, agree terms in writing where you can, and consider whether insurance is needed for the work.
4. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- Give your real name and town or county, and keep them up to date.
- One person, one account. Do not share your password or let anyone else use your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- You are responsible for anything posted or sent from your account.
5. Posting jobs
- Only post jobs you genuinely need doing, with honest details about the work, location, timing and budget.
- Do not post jobs that are illegal, unsafe, or that discriminate against anyone under Irish equality law (for example, jobs restricted by race, religion, gender, age or disability unless the law genuinely allows it).
- Do not use the site to arrange work that avoids tax or employment law obligations.
- You can edit, mark a job as filled, close or delete your own jobs at any time from the job page.
6. Offering a service
- Describe honestly what you can do, where you work and what you charge.
- Only offer services you are allowed and able to provide, including any licences or insurance required.
- Do not copy someone else's description or pretend to be another business.
- You can update or remove your service profile at any time.
7. Keeping the site safe
When using Howdydothis you must not:
- use messaging to harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against anyone;
- send spam, advertise unrelated products, or try to move people off-site to scam them;
- share personal contact details with the aim of dodging Howdydothis safety and reporting tools;
- post false, misleading, defamatory or hateful content;
- try to break, disable or gain unauthorised access to the site, or to see data that is not yours;
- use the site for any illegal purpose.
8. Money and payments
Howdydothis does not take payment and does not hold money on anyone's behalf. Any price, deposit or payment is agreed and arranged directly between the two people involved, so please agree it clearly in writing before work starts. If we introduce payments or fees later, we will tell you in advance and update these terms.
9. Reporting and moderation
You can report a job listing, a service profile or a message from the page where you see it. Reports are only visible to our small admin team.
If something breaks the rules we may remove it, warn the account, restrict parts of the site, or suspend or delete an account. We aim to tell you what we have done and why, unless we cannot legally do so or there is a safety reason not to.
Report genuinely: filing false or spiteful reports is itself against the rules. We cannot resolve disputes between members or act as a court.
10. Closing your account
You can delete your own account from Account Settings. We will remove your profile, jobs, applications, service profile, reports and messages. Because conversations belong to two people, deleting your account also removes those chats from the other person's inbox.
Some records may remain where the law requires it — for example activity logs kept by our hosting provider, or records needed to deal with a legal claim. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
11. Our responsibility
We provide Howdydothis "as is" and try to keep it running reliably, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for something that cannot legally be limited — including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or a breach of your consumer rights under Irish and EU law.
Where we are responsible for a loss, our liability is limited to losses you could reasonably foresee from using the site, and we are not liable for business losses such as lost profit or lost income.
12. Law and complaints
These terms are governed by Irish law and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction, but this does not affect any mandatory consumer rights you have in your own country.
If you have a complaint, tell us first using the contact details above. If you are not satisfied, you may be able to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform or contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in Ireland.
